Our client is a leading global manufacturer of innovative fluid-flow and mechanical systems and is looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join their growing team!

This position will strengthen the company’s supply chain by auditing, qualifying and developing suppliers while ensuring components meet the required quality, technical and regulatory standards.

Supplier Quality Engineer Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead initial, process and surveillance audits of new and existing suppliers
  • Assess suppliers against ISO 9001, ISO 3834 and Pressure Equipment Directive requirements
  • Qualify and onboard suppliers through screening and capability assessments
  • Monitor supplier approvals, certifications and ongoing performance
  • Drive improvements in supplier quality, delivery and process capability
  • Lead root-cause investigations, corrective actions and 8D activities
  • Support underperforming suppliers with structured performance recovery plans
  • Work closely with Procurement, Engineering, Production and Quality teams
  • Maintain supplier scorecards, performance measures and risk profiles
  • Review welding procedures, inspection reports and material certificates
  • Review supplier quality plans and technical documentation
  • Support PPAP, FAIR and validation of new or modified components
  • Promote lean manufacturing, process control and defect-reduction initiatives
  • Support cost reduction, risk mitigation and new-product launch readiness

Supplier Quality Engineer Ideal Candidate

  • Previous supplier quality experience within manufacturing or engineered products
  • Engineering, Manufacturing, Metallurgy or Quality-related qualification
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 3834 and pressure equipment requirements
  • Experience auditing fabrication, welding, CNC machining, assembly or inspection processes
  • Knowledge of carbon steel, stainless steel, brass or copper materials
  • Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, 8D and root-cause analysis
  • Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor qualification would be advantageous
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and supplier-management skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the UK and occasionally within Europe

Supplier Quality Engineer Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 07:30–16:00, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
  • Friday: 07:00–13:00
  • Full-time, permanent and onsite, with approximately 60% UK supplier travel + car allowance
