We at JKR are supporting a very busy and growing manufacturing company in recruiting for a Stores Operative!

Stores Operative Role:

To support the efficient operation of the stores function by ensuring all materials, components and consumables are received, stored, controlled and issued accurately. The role is responsible for maintaining stock integrity, supporting production requirements and ensuring goods are handled safely and in accordance with company procedures, quality standards and health & safety regulations.

Stores Operative Duties:

  • Receive, unload and safely handle incoming deliveries of materials, components and consumables

  • Check all deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes to ensure quantities, specifications and documentation are correct

  • Inspect incoming goods for damage, defects or discrepancies and report any issues promptly to the appropriate department

  • Accurately record received goods into the company inventory or ERP system in a timely manner

  • Label, identify and store materials in the correct designated locations to ensure easy retrieval and stock traceability

  • Maintain accurate stock records and ensure inventory data is kept up to date at all times

  • Issue materials, components and consumables to production or operational teams in accordance with internal procedures and service level expectations

  • Maintain accurate records of all stock issued to ensure full traceability and stock accuracy

  • Work closely with production, purchasing and operations teams to ensure materials are available when required

  • Assist with routine stock checks and formal stock take activities to maintain inventory accuracy

  • Support the management of products with limited shelf life by ensuring appropriate stock rotation and monitoring expiry dates

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the stores and goods-in areas in line with 5S principles

  • Ensure all storage areas are organised, clearly labelled and maintained in a safe condition

  • Comply with all company procedures relating to stores management, quality requirements and health and safety regulations

  • Report any stock discrepancies, damaged goods, safety concerns or operational issues promptly to the Stores Supervisor or management team

Stores Operative Person Specification:

  • Understanding of stores, warehouse or stock control processes

  • Knowledge of goods receiving procedures including checking deliveries against purchase orders and delivery documentation

  • Understanding of inventory management principles and the importance of maintaining accurate stock records

  • Basic knowledge of health and safety requirements relating to warehouse and stores environments, including safe manual handling practices

  • Understanding of 5S principles and the importance of maintaining organised, clean and efficient storage areas

  • Awareness of quality control and traceability requirements when handling materials used in production environments

  • Understanding of the importance of accurate documentation and record keeping supporting operational and production activities

  • Good numeracy and attention to detail

  • Familiarity with using inventory management systems or ERP systems to record stock movements (desirable)

  • Forklift Truck (FLT) licence (desirable) or willingness to undertake training

  • Worked in an engineering or manufacturing enviromment (desirable)

Stores Operative Working Hours & Benefits:

  • 08:30-17:00 Monday-Thursday 08:30-16:00 Fridays
