Software Control Systems Engineer

An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Software Control Systems engineer to join a growing company who are experts in their fields. You will be supporting the Sustaining Engineering team for existing products and processes, developing and delivering the technology and new product/processes for the next generation of equipment.

Software Control Systems Engineer Role:

  • Write, Modify, customise, and debug C++ code to an advanced level in an industrial environment (initially under the guidance of the team leader)
  • Develop new software as part of an improvement programme or part of R&D processes such as prototyping improvements to existing equipment or new equipment development migrating the software to other systems
  • Coordinate and deliver projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and integrate technical activities
  • Report weekly and monthly on the progress of workstreams and projects, paying attention to adherence to cost, schedule and specification plans, identifying bottlenecks and problems to ensure swift resolution
  • Develop and implement documentation standards and procedures for the Software and engineering design work performed in the department as part of a Technical File construction process
  • To support machine production of the electrical, electronic control systems.
  • Provide support during the building and installation process, ensuring that the product functions in accordance with design specifications.
  • Liaising and working with the mechanical production team.
  • Powering up completed machines bringing sections to life, programming sub systems, testing and calibrating.
  • Finally, testing the whole machine operation. o Preparing and backing-up systems prior to shipment.
  • Supporting infield customers with problems through email, telephone, remote access and visits ensuring ongoing high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Feedback infield problems to the design team for product improvement using the non-conformance process.

The ideal Software Control Systems Engineer will have:

  • Ideally educated to Bachelor level in a technical discipline, probably in Computing Science, Electrical or electronic Engineer, Physicist or Robotics / mechatronics background
  • Engineering experience with a background in the design & manufacture of technical products. 
  • Demonstrable and proven track record of programming C++ to an advanced level in an industrial environment (Engineering preferred)
  • Demonstrate a competent understanding of electronic systems used in machine control
  • Electrical safety regulations
  • Knowledge of OEM Equipment Safety Standards
  • Network communication & Object Process Control awareness
  • Knowledge of EtherCat protocol
  • Knowledge of Machine Vision an advantage
  • Knowledge of Machine Motion control systems an advantage
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills in a complex organisation
  • To always work in line with the terms of the company vision, culture
  • To be an active and engaged member of the team and to be a positive visible role model
  • To perform any other related duties and to work flexibly when required to meet the needs of the business
  • To be able to work hands on the factory floor and in customer facilities.
