£38,000 Per Annum (12 Month Fixed Contract)

This position plays a key role in overseeing, developing, and driving ongoing improvements within the Production Control and Logistics (PC&L) department. The individual in this role will be responsible for managing production control through the creation and management of the site's Manufacturing Production Schedule.

Production and Logistics Controller Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Accountability: Responsible for managing and overseeing the Production Control and Logistics team (5-6 members), ensuring their performance is well managed, clear objectives are set, and development opportunities are provided. This also includes contributing to site engagement and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manufacturing Production Schedule (MPS): Collaborating with the Production Manager to create and update the MPS on a weekly basis, ensuring that the shop floor operations align with customer requirements and run smoothly.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Acting as a key liaison with site stakeholders to ensure that customer-facing teams (Program Managers), supplier-facing teams (Supply Chain), and internal teams (Production and Stores) are all aligned and working together to maintain efficient operations at the manufacturing facility.
  • Raw Material Supply: Ensuring that the shop floor has a steady supply of raw materials to achieve 100% compliance with the MPS.
  • Kitting Team Support: Providing direction, support, and motivation to the kitting team to ensure their success.
  • Inventory Management: Taking ownership of the inventory in the stores area, including conducting regular cycle counts and implementing plans to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Driving Functional Improvements: Leading improvement initiatives across the PC&L department by enhancing team governance, visual management, KPI tracking, and improving the team's working environment.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensuring adherence to company health and safety policies and standard operating procedures, while continually looking for opportunities to make improvements in these areas.

The ideal Production and Logistics Controller will:

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent, ideally with skills in Supply Chain Management or Project Management.
  • Proven track record in a similar role at a comparable level of responsibility.
  • Professional, confident communicator (both written and verbal) with the ability to interact effectively at all organisational levels.
  • A proactive, self-driven individual capable of working efficiently in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experienced in working with ERP and MRP systems, such as SAP, Epicor, or similar platforms.
  • Able to demonstrate strong negotiation, persuasion, and influencing skills, both internally and externally at senior levels.
  • Positive and motivated, with a history of driving meaningful improvements in their areas of responsibility.
  • Data-driven with excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with Power BI experience being a bonus, though not essential.
