Our well-established client, are looking for a Logistics and Distribution Manager to join their growing and busy team! You will be expected to ensure all strategic business objectives, performance improvements and operational strategy.

Logistics and Distribution Manager Roles and Responsibilities:  

  • Manage logistical operations in compliance with company’s policies
  • Plan, manage and evaluate operations. Plan and create best practice processes to help improve operation and financial performance
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics providers, transportation companies and customers
  • Negotiating costs, and delivery times with transport companies
  • Deliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary requirements
  • Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports or customer issues.
  • Review impact of logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or carriers and report results to others
  • communicate and strengthen relationships with clients, suppliers, freight forwarders and transport companies across the supply chain
  • Managing the companies Health & Safety compliance and ensuring that all relevant documentation including but not limited to Risk Assessments, COSHH assessments, Standard Operating Procedures, Safe System of Work are current and audited at least annually
  • Ensuring that all staff and visitors adhere to correct Health & Safety at work policies
  • Develop all necessary procedures to ensure that a safe and healthy working environment is always maintained

The ideal Logistics and Distribution Manager will:

  • Experience of managing a team within a logistics/ distribution environment
  • Knowledge of import and export documentation would be useful
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job
  • Good literacy and numerical skills and a good level of computer and technology literacy including Microsoft applications
  • Excellent attention to detail and able to work accurately and methodically to deadlines
  • The ability to prioritize and manage your own time effectively along with the ability to think on your feet when required
  • Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure/poor quality
  • Willing to work some Saturdays if required during peak periods
  • Operate in a safe manner complying with all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements to ensure your own and the safety of others
