Lead Software and Controls Engineer

Our client is recruiting for an experienced Lead Software and Controls Engineer to join their growing team!

Lead Software and Controls Engineer roles and responsibilities:

  • Design, development, delivery, and testing of model-based software and/or embedded code across a variety of projects

  • Advancing the existing control system design processes, with a particular focus on functional safety for projects moving towards production

  • Supporting generation and management of requirements from both the external and internal customers

  • Following relevant design standards and engineering design process

  • Maturation of engineering design process with a focus on functional safety and product development

  • Ensuring a coherent design development between hardware and software

  • Generation of model-based software using MATLAB Simulink

  • Generation of embedded code, typically in C

  • Systems commissioning and calibration

  • Code unit testing and debugging

The ideal Lead Software and Controls Engineer will be:

  • Educated to degree level in Software Engineering or other relevant discipline

  • 10+ years’ experience in relevant role and industry skills

  • Experience in leading a software and controls team within a relevant industry and of C low level driver development

  • Knowledge of Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow toolchains

  • Experience of interfacing embedded control with real-world hardware such as sensors and actuators using a variety of protocols including I2C, SPI and CAN

  • Able to work across project types from proof of concept through to production

  • Familiarity of automotive standards and processes for software such as AutoSAR, MISRAC is desired

  • Working knowledge of the implementation of ISO26262 or DO178B/C within a product-based business is desired

  • Experience of automotive series production software development is desired
