Are you an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in fabrication and a passion for leading high-performing teams? We’re looking for a skilled Fabrication Engineering Manager to join our dynamic client in Swindon, where you'll play a key role in driving innovation, improving manufacturing processes, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Fabrication Engineering Manager Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Operations Director and General Manager
  • Oversee daily fabrication operations across Swindon and Worminghall sites
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely on time, to specifications and to the highest quality standards
  • Conduct and manage quality inspections and testing before delivery/installation
  • Interpret fabrication drawings to ensure accurate production
  • Ensure compliance with welding standards, H&S regulations, and internal QA procedures
  • Collaborate with Contracts Managers, Engineers, and Clients to meet project requirements
  • Handle fabrication enquiries, providing accurate estimates and competitive quotes
  • Drive continuous improvement across factory operations and quality systems
  • Manage material procurement and maintain lean stock levels (JIT), including handling Free-Issue Materials
  • Maintain plant and equipment, including scheduling maintenance and tracking assets

Fabrication Engineering Manager Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience in fabrication or workshop management
  • Strong background in structural, secondary, and specialist steelwork (architectural metalwork a plus)
  • Skilled in reading technical drawings and managing QA processes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • PCN Level 2 welding inspection certified
  • Experience preparing and submitting fabrication quotes
  • Knowledge of H&S regulations and safe working practices
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Engineering/Fabrication/Welding qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC/HND)
  • CSCS or SMSTS/SSSTS certified
  • Strong knowledge BS EN 1090-2, BS EN 3834-2. CE marking requirements and factory production control systems up to EXC level 4

Fabrication Engineering Manager Working Hours and Benefits:

  • 42.75 hours per week 
  • Occasional travel to Worminghall
  • Company Commercial Vehicle (No Tax)
