Engineering Estimator

£30,000 - £45,000 (DOE) + Excellent company Benefits

About the role

To support the business in securing new contracts from existing and new customers, preparation of quotations for both material and labour, including contact with suppliers/contractors to secure best price for materials and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively review systems and procedures, making recommendations for improvement and implementing changes.
  • Develop a close working relationship with the Sales and Engineering teams & within the broader business to achieve order intake budgets and proposal outputs
  • Align estimating role activities to achieve operational objectives, timelines, and budgets.
  • Produce appropriately detailed material and labour estimates to secure business from new and existing customers using techniques such as comparative (analogous), parametric (using norms), bottom up (analytical) and three point estimating.
  • Contact with and securing of reliable/quality suppliers of materials, components and indirect spend covering technical compliance, price, delivery and quality targets so as to obtain the optimized benefit for inclusion in quotation preparation.
  • Manage enquiry timelines to ensure bids/proposals are submitted as required
  • Hold responsibility for development and maintenance of suitable KPIs.
  • Ensure estimating best practice is followed at all times.
  • Maintaining estimate system within the company ERP system (Epicor)
  • The ability to communicate well with both internal and external supplier/customers.
  • Knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)

Skills/Experience

  • Previous manufacturing based, technical experience, gained within the manufacturing engineering industry.
  • Experience with ERP systems and preferably EPICOR and Microsoft Office Software.
  • Communication, influencing and relationship management skills.
  • To be proficient in Microsoft Office Software
  • Understanding of design, engineering, and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintaining focus, innovative solutions, taking responsibility, team working, problem solving.
  • Ability to adapt to change within a fast-evolving environment.
  • Current UK driving license.
